Sandy’s a native Texan with a strong southern accent in which I’m extremely proud. I love to travel and when I open my mouth, people ask me where I’m from. In fact, I was once introduced as the “Paula Deen of the Piano with a Hint of Madea!” My accent gives me an opportunity to share with the world my love for the South and especially East Texas!
I received my piano performance degrees from Kilgore College, Southern Methodist University and Stephen F. Austin State University. I was Head of the Piano Division at Kilgore College for twenty-five years where I developed a Keyboard Orchestra who performed throughout the nation.
I developed lasting relationships with my students who have won prestigious piano competitions and hold professorates at universities throughout the nation. It has been most rewarding to witness how the discipline of piano instruction has been evident in the successful careers each have pursued.
I have a love for fashion! I will be sharing with our audience some of my favorite boutiques, their owners, designers, especially those who have roots in East Texas. Life isn’t perfect, but your outfit can be!
I am the business partner of Grammy-Award Winner, Skip Martin, who sang lead for both Kool and the Gang and the Dazz Band, as well as the agent for legendary blues artist, Lucky Lloyd Wright, who has been awarded numerous accolades and awards for his extraordinary artistic skills of both the lead and bass guitar. Numerous interviews of outstanding musicians will be featured guests on our program.
I am a member of the First Baptist Church in Henderson, Tx., where I have taught Sunday School Classes of various ages. I played keyboard for the Gloryland Vocal Band for ten years serving our Lord through music. I have a passion for missions. I am on the board of Gospel for Muslims and love my trips to Bangladesh where I have seen thousands led to the Lord! My goal in life is to get to heaven and take as many people with me as possible!

Dr. Joe Pettigrew
Joe was born in the small town of Bolivar, Tennessee, and attended the University of Tennessee. During and after college he played music professionally and graduated with a double major in music and education. He spent time performing with Bob Hope, Today’s People, several high profile musical artists and traveled abroad with the USO.
He received his Master’s degree from Murray State University and his Doctoral degree from the University of Memphis. Joe has served on the faculty at several prestigious institutions and was a University Dean and Associate Vice President for over 10 years.
Dr. Pettigrew founded Leaderpoint Consulting, an international leadership-coaching firm with offices in Memphis, Dallas and Houston. He was considered a leading authority on leadership and management issues affecting the world’s senior executives. He is among a very elite group of individuals worldwide to hold a Doctorate in the field of Leadership. His consulting and speaking clients include more than half of America’s Fortune 500 Companies and many large not-for-profit organizations. He has worked with international leaders, and organizations as diverse as the National Basketball Association and the National Football League.
Joe has participated and taught at many of the country’s leading training schools for leaders. He has taught for the Harvard Business School and the Center for Creative Leadership. His work has been quoted in USA Today, CNN, NBC News and Fox News.
Joe is a committed Christian. Like all men he has always battled the balancing act of work, family, marriage and faith. In 2006, Joe answered the call to start a new men’s ministry that would target men in the prime of their lives. He conducted a national survey of Christian men and determined that a new event featuring committed Christian sports celebrities and business leaders just may be a common language to attract men to the word of God. His many years of working with the most successful corporate leaders in the world, and his close ties with the sports community and coaches proved to be the glue that created what is now known as “In The Zone.” He birthed a movement for Christian men similar in excitement and energy to ESPN. The subject areas are faith, marriage, family and work.
With the help of Coach Bill McCartney, founder of Promise Keepers, Kyle Rote, Jr.(a former mega sports agent) and Dr. Joe Pettigrew started the men’s ministry. It was intended to replace Promise Keepers as Coach McCartney felt his organization had completed its “season” and wanted another organization to continue to minister nationally to men. However, with the absence of Promise Keepers and the decline of men attending church, In The Zone created a new concept of men’s ministry that is exciting and relevant to men of all ages. In The Zone is continually evolving as to stay relevant for today’s men while never losing the focus of challenging men to honor the Lord Jesus Christ in all areas of their lives.
